UNESCO clubs and departments of our country are in Kazakhstan

On April 14-15, 2025, a Turkmen delegation consisting of the heads of UNESCO departments and clubs operating within the higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan and the rapporteur of the Secretariat of the National Commission of Turkmenistan on UNESCO activities paid a working visit to Almaty in order to study the long-term experience of UNESCO departments in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Federation of National Clubs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and got acquainted with their activities.

On the first day of the working visit - April 14, the Turkmen delegation visited the “Taleran” UNESCO clubs established on the basis of secondary, higher, creative and art schools in Almaty - at the A. Kasteyev School of Art and Design, and the Faculty of International Relations of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, and got acquainted with the many years of work of these clubs. During the meetings between the representatives of the UNESCO clubs of the two friendly countries, a number of proposals for bilateral cooperation were discussed.

On April 15, in the morning, a meeting was held between the heads of UNESCO departments and clubs of our country and the heads of UNESCO departments of the higher educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, such as the UNESCO Department of Protection of Historical and Cultural Heritage at the State Institute of Architecture and Construction established within the framework of the international program of UNESCO UNITWIN, the UNESCO Department of Journalism and Communication at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the UNESCO Department of Scientific and Spiritual Development and Sustainable Development at the R.B. Suleymanova Oriental Studies University, the UNESCO Department of Water Resources Management at the Kazakh-German Joint University, and the UNESCO Department of Pedagogy at the Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University. During the meetings, they were acquainted with the main activities of UNESCO clubs operating in Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, and exchanged mutual experiences that will serve as a basis for further improving the work carried out within the framework of the departments.

Then, the Turkmen delegation visited the Secretariat of the Federation of National Clubs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, established in Almaty in 2009, and met with the heads and specialists of this federation. Representatives of the National Federation introduced the heads of UNESCO clubs of our country to their many years of experience, invited them to actively participate in the projects organized within the federation, and made a number of proposals for increasing the effectiveness of mutual cooperation in the future. The delegation of our country, in turn, introduced their colleagues to the activities of UNESCO clubs in Turkmenistan, which have many years of experience in the field, through presentations and videos, and aroused great interest in them.

The working visit of our UNESCO departments and clubs to the Republic of Kazakhstan was an important step in effectively organizing the work of our UNESCO departments and clubs in accordance with international requirements and expanding their international cooperation. It should be noted that the establishment of UNESCO departments and clubs in educational institutions of our country demonstrates the rapid development and broad potential of the national education system and Turkmen science. This is of great importance for the development of international educational cooperation in our country within the framework of UNESCO educational and scientific projects and programs, for improving the work of the national education system, and for promoting the policy of peace and confidence pursued by our country.
